Are you looking for high quality training that is affordable, available, and easy to access? The College of Direct Support (CDS) is computer-based multimedia, training designed for direct support professionals (DSPs) and their supervisors. CDS internet lessons are provided without cost to all persons (families, service providers and their employees, and other care providers) supporting individuals with developmental disabilities who receive services through Kansas Social and Rehabilitation Services- MR/DD Services. The courses can be accessed at any time from any computer with a high-speed internet connection.
After registering with the Kansas administrator, twenty CDS courses (over 100 lessons) are available. Topics address a variety of issues including planning, safety, medication support, personal care, individual rights, employment, and maltreatment among others. “Catch Your Dreams!” is a one day event for students with disabilities, parents, educators, service providers, and other interested persons. This conference will offer personal transition stories an a variety of breakout sessions on topics such as: Special Needs Trusts and Guardianship, Medical Transition, Behavior in Teens, SSI, and job coaching.
