Grandparents As

Caregivers Program

Senate bill 62 or the Grandparents as Caregivers program (GP as CG) will provide monthly financial assistance to grandparents or other relatives raising children, if certain eligibility requirements are met.  This would be a stand alone program, separate from TAF (Temporary Assistance to Families) and Foster Care assistance programs.  Senate bill 62 was approved by the Legislature and Governor Sebelius has signed the bill into law.  The bill has these following provisions:

Dear Families and Education Advocates:

The staff at Families Together, Inc. wishes each of you a Happy Holiday season and a Merry Christmas!

The plans for the celebration of the 25th anniversary for Families Together are well underway.  The only date that is “set in stone” is a family picnic at the new Boundless Playspace at Sedgwick County Park in Wichita on June 10, 2007.  Please save that date and we will get further details to you as they develop.

Please call, email, or send a letter with your reflections of the services that your family may have used from Families Together.  No story or comment is insignificant.  Our sons and daughters and the children for whom you may be an advocate add to our lives as do the experiences with other families of children with disabilities.  Take a quick moment to tell us your favorite story(ies).

There are some great resources listed in this newsletter for particular locations around the state including respite opportunities and conferences.  There are still a few openings in some of our parent weekend events, too.  Take a look and take advantage of the enrichment these events can offer to your busy lives.  Take care of yourself!
